bio

Born in England, 1958

I'm a mechanical engineer by trade and have been a keen amateur photographer for over 30 years. My first camera was an Olympus Trip 35 bought in 1975.

In 1991 I bought my first SLR, Canon EOS 10.

It was then I first got interested in black and white and developing my own. I had  a darkroom set up in my attic and was buying film in bulk. I had a short spell at developing colour prints but this proved to be to expensive.  I then moved on to developing colour slides, this I found to be my best option and I was buying Fuji velvia film in bulk. I still have boxes of slides and still believe there as never been a better media for producing the best quality results possible. The digital format is getting there but it still has some way to go.

My first real introduction into the digital age was in 1991 when I bought a Canon 10D. In 2008 I progressed to a 40D which I kept faith with until 2012 when I purchased a Canon 7D. In September of 2015 I bought my first full frame digital camera a Canon 5d MkIII

I consider myself an experimental photographer, I have no specific area of interest and will change subjects as the mood takes me. I have done a considerable amount of work with High Definition Rendering (HDR) and churches seem to suit that style. I use Photoshop CS6, Topaz Labs, Photomatix and various other software for my editing.

All my photos are available for print or download, just contact me for a price.
